‘Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge
Initiative’

‘Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge
Initiative,’ this is based on the meeting of the two countries leaders
Indian PM, Manmohan Singh and the American President Barack Obama.
India and the US have agreed to expand
educational horizon to fuel their “knowledge-based “ economies and
announced the launch of USD 10 million to enhance cooperation between
universities of India and United States. India and US agreed to
“dramatically” expand the Fulbright-Nehru programme that provides an
opportunity to students and scholars to come together and benefit the
advantages of the understanding.
“We agreed to expand the educational
exchanges that will fuel our knowledge-based economies. We are
increasing ties and exchanges between universities and community
colleges as part of a new Obama-Singh or Singh-Obama 21st century
knowledge initiative. We think it’s appropriately named,” Obama said at
a joint press conference with Singh.
Back home, on the historical front,
the HRD Ministry, Mr. Kapil Sibbal is poised to bring reform at the
domestic level. There is likely to create tangible changes in the
present system of education of India. Since when he has assumed the
office, he in one or the other form has been stressing upon how to see
the contemporary education in the right perspective. What should be the
better ways so that the education could turn out to be a value-laden as
well as professional-centric?
The Indian Prime Minister made history
in the second trip of U.S by exploring new realities and avenues which
could be the tool of progress, peace and prosperity in the subcontinent
and a source of global vision for the two countries and the world.
Definitely, this is substantive moment of the history for India and U.S.
