New
robot Maron
Fujitsu
researcher Shinji Kanda explains how its new robot Maron-1
works at its research centre in Kawasaki, a Tokyo suburb.
Maron-1, a machine on wheels that looks like a short R2-D2, is
not just experimental whimsy. Fujitsu plans to market the
robot, that can be remote controlled by mobile phones to check
your pet puppy or a possible burglar and turning home
appliances on or off with two digital cameras that protrude
from the top like frog eyes, in the next year for under
200,000 yen (US$1,600), targeting computer-savvy bachelors and
young couples in Japan, who tend to be away from their homes a
lot. |

The Samsung SGH 600’
The
Samsung SGH 600’s strongest selling point is its sturdiness and
great reception. But don’t look beyond the utilitarian, as you
won’t find any games or organiser functions lurking in the
phone’s features menu. At Rs. 11,000, the price tag may not seem
to justify the lack of "fun" features here. |
