PRINCELY CMDs FOR INDIAN AIRLINES
Former Indian Airlines CMD Shri
Vishwapati Trivedi in his letter of 12.12.2007 addressed to Union Civil
Aviation Ministry has revealed shocking information under RTI Act:
Chairman-cum-Managing Director of
Indian Airlines (now merged with Air India) is privileged for princely
facility of unlimited free passes for his entire family where definition
of ‘family’ is extended to include even brothers, sisters,
daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, apart from spouse, children and parents.
In his letter, Shri Vishwapati Trivedi
while justifying his 121 free family-passes of the public-sector
airliner has revealed that similar facility is enjoyed by Chairman of
Railway Board. It is beyond understanding what benefit Indian Airlines
or Indian Railways get by such freebies for their family-members with
enlarged definition of ‘family’!
Union Civil Aviation Ministry should
not only abolish such and other undesired expenses for personal benefits
of CMDs of public-sector airlines, but should also question
board-members passing such anti-public resolutions benefitting their
CMDs.
