Bahrain International Circuit
The construction and plan of the
Bahrain International Circuit is unique in that it comprises no fewer
than six individual tracks, four of which can be used simultaneously.
The track was constructed on a 169 hectare site in the South West of the
main island in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Grand Prix Circuit: The inner and
outer tracks of the six are configured to form the Formula One circuit
and allow unparalleled viewing from the Grandstands and the VIP tower.
The circuits length is 5.411Km, with a maximum uphill slope of 3.6% and
maximum downhill slope of 5.6%. The design and planning team from the
German Architects Tilke GmbH have gone to great lengths to ensure that
the objective of creating a track with character and undulation has been
fulfilled.
The track includes 15 corners and the
forecast lap time for a current Grand Prix car is 1min 30.252secs at an
average speed of 213 km/h.
Inner Track: The objective in design
of the Inner Track is that it will provide the ideal venue for testing,
club racing events as well as for the Racing School and driver training
activities.
Outer Track: The track has been
designed to accommodate any number of racing disciplines, corporate and
incentive events and the testing by manufacturers and teams of chassis,
engines, tyres and other components.
Full Circuit: An additional 1km of
track length has been achieved with a testing, twisting link between the
Grand Prix and Inner Circuits. This has allowed the Circuit to host
larger grid numbers for selected events such as the inaugural 24-hour
race in the region, taking place in December 2006 with over 80 entries
already received.
Drag Strip: Drag Racing has a huge
following in the region and the Circuits quarter-mile strip is now
fully homologated to FIA international standards, constructed in
concrete.
Test Oval: Endurance testing and
evaluation is crucial to both the racing and motor industries. The 2000m
long Test Oval with its two parabolic corners provides a facility for
warm and hot weather testing of all types of vehicles and components
under controlled conditions. Manufacturers in particular will have
access to a unique location with a comprehensive selection of normal
road conditions along with on-site maintenance and office facilities.
Kart Track: Bahrain International
Circuit will include a Kart Track with a dedicated Race Control centre,
workshops as well as dining and viewing facilities. The track will be an
essential component for corporate days and a centre for the use of the
regions many motorsport enthusiasts.
Paddock Track: The Paddock Tracks
length is 3.705km and its width varies between 14-22m. The track has a
total of 9 turns.
