It’s high time to have new approach to policing

Down to earth

THANK God, the Indian political scenario with President A.P.J.Kalam, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Atal Behari Vajpayee at the centre-stage in crucial roles, has come down to earth from the politics of eerie eagles and directionless skylarks.

As I see it, the Indian politics is now taking the much needed and often neglected road to development and people’s issues rather than emotional non-sense, personality cults and loudmouthism. The new era, call it Sonia era, Manmohan era or United Progressive Alliance era, certainly marks a significant change on the socio-economic horizon of India.

In their mandate, the people of India have made one thing very clear. The political hot heads and adventurers should know their limits. The politicians, more motivated by the lust for power and government grab, should not be allowed to misuse the institutions of democracy like the parliament and judiciary to waste the tax-payers’ money and block a better future for the people of India.
Everyone must understand that the mandate of Lok Sabha Poll 2004 is for a change, better performance, honest and transparent people-oriented policies and development - not the one-up manship of the personality-mongers.

The rulers and the Opposition must learn the lesson and behave and come down to earth. That, as I see, is the mandate and the wish of the people of India.
