Mumbai: Bharat Heavy Electricals
Ltd. (BHEL) has been awarded the "Business Standard Star Public
Sector Company Award-2006 ". Shri Ashok. K. Puri, Chairman &
Managing Director , BHEL received the award from Shri Montek Singh
Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission at a function held here
on 12th June'07
Amongst all the PSUs in the country,
BHEL has been bestowed this prestigious award for its exceptional
high-growth performance with across-the-board gains on all parameters in
its areas of operation .
Continuing on its high growth path,
BHEL doubled its turnover in 3 years and profit in 2 years
time . In 2006-07 year, BHEL achieved a record turnover of
Rs.18,739 Crore, an impressive growth of more than 29% over the
previous year. Net Profit (PAT) soared by 44% to Rs.2,415 Crore.
The Company has unveiled a
Strategic Plan 2012 that will enable it achieve a turnover of US$ 10
Billion by 2011-12 i.e. two and half times its present turnover
of US$ 4 Billion.
BHEL is taking long strides to become
a major global player by enhancing its presence in international markets
and it has identified overseas business as one of its future thrust
areas. BHEL is India 's largest Power Project exporter from
India . Over the years, BHEL has established its footprints in all
the six inhabited continents of the world, spanning 68 countries.
The company has taken steps for
upgradation/introduction of new technologies. It has tied-up to acquire
new technology to produce thermal power Equipment with Super Critical
parameters for next higher rating of 800 MW and above.
BHEL
was set up with a mandate to make the country self-reliant in the
manufacture of power plant equipment. Today, the company's generating
equipment ( Thermal, Hydro, Nuclear & Gas ) forms the backbone of the
Indian energy Sector. Notably, BHEL sets generate 73% of the total
power produced in the country while accounting for 65% of India's
installed generating capacity of over 1,25,000 MW ( as on 31/3/2007).
The company has also reaffirmed its
commitment to the Indian Power Sector by equipping itself for the
future, by way of technology, facilities and trained manpower to meet
the country's power forecast for the XI Plan and beyond. BHEL has
embarked upon a very ambitious plan of enhancing its manufacturing
capacity to 15,000 MW per annum with a total investment of around Rs
3,200 crore for the 11th Plan. |
