Renuka is back
 

After Kora Kaagaz, Surabhi girl Renuka Shahane is back on the small screen. She is returning after a long five year gap with Sony’s new serial Jeete Hain Jiske Liye as Anjali Dhanrajgeer. The show has been adapted from an international telenovella La Madratssa. Renuka Shahane will be the main woman protagonist of the serial. Her popularity among television viewers should prove to be a huge factor in roping viewership for the show. She gives all the credit for her much awaited comeback to her husband Ashutosh Rana. Ashwini Kaleskar, Ayub Khan and Maaninee De will also be seen in the serial. 


Himachal bans ‘Traffic Signal’ 

Himachal Pradesh has banned Madhur Bhandarkar’s just released film ‘Traffic Signal’ for using the word ‘kinner’ to denote eunuchs. Tribals from the state’s Kinnaur district are upset over the use of the term in the film, which takes a peek into the lives of people living near traffic signals in metros. The people of the district maintain that under the constitution only they have the privilege of being called ‘kinners’. They have demanded that the film will be banned across the country. Unless the objectionable word ‘kinner’ was removed, the ban will continue. Bhandarkar reportedly refused to oblige.


Big B gets Rolls Royce for ‘ Ekalavya’ 

Expressing gratitude to Amitabh Bachchan for his excellent performance in the yet to be released ‘Ekalavya’, the film’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra gifted the actor a Rolls Royce Phantom worth Rs 3.5 crore. The silver car was presented by Chopra to the Bollywood icon at the latter’s Janak office in northwest Mumbai’s Juhu suburn. ‘Ekalavya’ which features an ensemble cast that includes Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan will hit the screens on February 16. It is contemporary action thriller about a loyal guardian whose duty is to protect the erstwhile royal family of Devigarh in Rajasthan.


Shilpa forgives Goody 

Shilpa Shetty might be no "Samaritan" to help Jade Goody come out of distress, but she is also in no mood to carry forward the race row any more after winning the Big Brother show.The Bollywood actress, who has become a "heroic figure" in recent days because of her magnanimous approach to the bullying that went on so publicly in the reality show, wants to move on in life, and let "bygones be bygones".

She even visited the Commons and met MPs and have no vengeance left for any of her housemates, even the ones accused of making her stay hell at the house. Shetty is also laughing all the way to the bank for keeping her dignity intact and handling the situation with utmost grace. The 31-year-old has been inundated with offers of work but Clifford claimed she hadn’t made any decisions as to which ones to take up yet. The Celebrity Big Brother winner made a red carpet appearance at the premiere of Music & Lyrics, at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London and was accompanied by her mother Sunanda and Clifford.


Jaya Bachchan is disqualified 

Actress Jaya Bachchan is once again caught in controversy after having been disqualified once from the Rajya Sabha for holding an ‘office of profit’. 

She now faces a complaint for concealing her family’s assets in the mandatory declaration made by her at the time of filing her nomination before her re-election to the upper house of parliament. Jaya is alleged to have skipped the mention of a huge chunk of land, owned by her husband actor Amitabh Bachchan, in Barabanki District. Jaya filed her nomination a forthnight after the land was transferred in Amitabh’s name.


Tanushree sings for Babul Supriyo 

After sizzling on some item numbers, actress Tanushree Dutta is all set to try her hands in singing as well. Tanushree is going to sing a track in Babul Supriyo’s forthcoming album. 

She will also feature in the video along with singer Babul. The lyrics of the song have been penned by singer Shaan on the request of Babul Supriyo. Very few people know that Tanushree is a trained singer and has studied Rabindra Sangeet for six years and classical music for three years. According to Babul it will be a youthful and peppy number. The album will have all non-filmy tracks. He plans to record some numbers in the US. 

Tanushree’s forthcoming movies include Ashwini Chaudhury’s Good Boy Bad Boy, Indra Kumar’s Dhol and Raj Kanwar’s Raqueeb.
