The World Cup 2002 held for the first time in
two Asian nations--Korea and Japan--the soccer mega show kept
millions of viewers glued to TV sets for nearly a month. It had its
moments of glory and disappointment. The prestige of many soccer
giants took a hard knock from little-known rivals. Last time
champion, France, made an inglorious exit and so did Argentina and
Italy, before the quarter finals. Instead, the African nation,
Senegal, stole the hearts of the fans with spirited soccer. Egged on
by their countrymen, the Koreans rose to great heights. The sea of
humanity at Seoul will always be etched in one's memory. |
