Hrithik off on a holiday

Hrithik Roshan has left for a long overseas holiday to an unknown destination. Accompanying him is his wife, Suzanne. The two have celebrated the New Year away from home. Meanwhile, rumours about Rakesh Roshan starting his next film in January are just that, with no truth whatsoever to them. The filmmaker, whose Koi… Mil Gaya is the biggest hit of the year so far, has not even started hearing scripts or story ideas.

Panag & the art of managing life

THE one thing that sets the rhythm of life for model-turned-actress Gul Panag is waking up early. Starting her day as early as 6 am, she goes for an hour-long swim because she says the pool is cleanest at that hour and almost empty.

"I complete all my household tasks in the morning – like grocery, shopping or going to the bank, besides fixing appointments for the day and calling up people. That leaves me with the entire day to do what I want to at my own pace," says the former beauty queen.

Panag, who originally hails from Delhi, is looking forward to working in Vikram Bhatt’s Jurm, to be shot in Kuala Lumpur. Even between shoots, she doesn’t waste her time. "Between shoots I get enough time to read. In fact, that’s how I managed to complete my MA in Political Science through correspondence from Punjab University. Now I hope to do a Ph.D in International Relations or another MA in Psychology," says Panag, who reads at least three books in a month.

The three things that assist Panag are "my Palm 505, Nokia cellphone and my weekly lists", she says, adding: "My lists are a life-saver, where I write down everything that has to be completed within a week so that there’s no stress.

"The key to time management is to be organised and not feel stressed out about things that are not done. Give yourself the benefit of doubt and, if you believe me, making a weekly list is a must. If you can stick to your schedule, then you’ve won half the battle," concludes Panag. Well, she should know.

Akshay part of largest foreign bound unit

Ever heard of a producer putting up a set in a foreign land? Well, that’s exactly what producer Sajid Nadiadwala is doing for his comedy flick, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. Producers usually shoot on locations and bungalows when abroad. But besides that, Nadiadwala will also shoot on a huge set he is getting built in Mauritius.
Art director Sharmishta Roy is already there since 20 days with her team, busy erecting a huge set for the film starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. Roy’s set for the same film at Film City in Mumbai had become the talk of the industry for its fine detailing.
Director David Dhawan is scheduled to shoot not just songs but also action scenes of the love triangle on the set in Mauritius and locations in the foreign country in a month-long stint beginning 9th January. Sajid is expected to take a unit of 300 people to Mauritius for the shoot.

Kareena to bounce back?

SO what if Kareena Kapoor couldn’t leave an impact last year. The actress is all set to bounce back and silence her detractors with a cache of big banner films this year. "There is Dharmesh Darshan’s Bewafa, where my character has shades of grey. This would be followed by another offbeat role in Govind Nihalani’s Dev, where I get a chance to act with Bachchan once again. My other films include Satish Kaushik’s Milenge Milenge and Ken Ghosh’s Fidaa. Don’t worry, there will be a lot of me in 2004," laughs Kareena.
Admitting that 2003 was a bad year for her, she nevertheless is hopeful that the new year will bring her luck. Let’s wait and watch!

Madhuri makes Mumbai go dhak-dhak

Madhuri Dixit made one of her first public appearances in her current Mumbai trip, on Christmas eve, at a variety entertainment programme. Looking slim and pretty in a salwar-kameez and armed with her 1,000-watt smile, La Dixit made hearts of onlookers go dhak dhak as she made a late entry (Mumbai traffic doesn’t spare even the stars!) at the entertainment nite organised by former Bollywood actress Swapna and her hubby, Raman Khanna.
Madhuri, who had come with her father but minus her chubby little son, sat for almost 30 minutes in the show and even saw dancers perform on her Maar dala song from Devdas and Jab pyar kiya to darna kya from Mughal-e-Azam, before she was called up on the dais and presented a bouquet of red roses by Swapna.
A qawwali singer of the troupe committed a faux pas when, in the midst of her qawwali, she addressed Madhuri Dixit as Sridevi. Of course, she realised her mistake in a split second and quickly corrected it even as Madhuri only sportingly smiled at the slip of the singer’s tongue.
Incidentally, Swapna and Raman Khanna’s Sham-e-Rangeen show was being staged that day for the first time in India. It is an internationally acclaimed show, being held in 25 countries for the last 25 years.
