Multi-nation cricket team to tour
India
A 17-member multi-nation
team, 10 supporters and 2 umpires will realise their dream of touring
one of the great cricketing nations while playing eight matches in four
cities in India during January and February this year.
The eight-nation CBB will
play local teams in Kolkota, Delhi , Udaipur and Mumbai in a tour
organised by Mr Zubin Bharucha of The World Cricket Academy
Highlights include
playing against the Maharana of Mewar’s XI in Udaipur and at the Bombay
Gymkhana Club, where the first Test Match in India was played in1933.
Led by tour captain Bart
Singh from Toronto Canada , the CBB squad also comprises players from
the United States of America , the United Kingdom , China , Australia ,
Thailand , Malaysia and India .
The CBB was formed as a
touring cricket club in Penang in 2000 by seven like-minded, cricket
enthusiast friends who play at the Chang Mai International Cricket Sixes
tournament each year.
With headquarters in
Chiang Mai , Thailand , the CBB now boasts 67 members from many nations,
including Saurav Chatterjee, Captain of Cricket of the Calcutta Cricket
& Football Club, who is playing with the CBB on this tour of India .
The CBB play in the Asian
Cricket Sixes Tour’s annual Hong Kong Cricket Sixes and Phuket
International Cricket Sixes tournaments, as well as cricket sixes
competitions in Chang Mai, Singapore, Macau, Philippines and Newcastle
(NSW, Australia).
CBB Founding Member and
Chairman of the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour Mr Michael Maher said everyone
was very excited about the tour and looking forward to playing cricket
with prestigious teams at impressive grounds.
Many international
cricketers have played with the CBB including Trevor Chappell, who is a
member of the CBB cricket club, Courtney Browne, Colin Miller, Adam
Hollioake, Terry Alderman, Heath Streak and Tom Hogan.
In 2006 a CBB team played
eight matches in North America and Canada , also in 2002 a CBB team
played in the Sarasota Cricket Sixes in Florida .
