Sikh charity: Feed the Homeless
Vancouver (Canada): A
group of local Sikhs who have been born and raised in community here
feel it's time to give back a little to the society that has given them
so much.
According to the press
spoke person Sikhcessâ„¢, a community organization dedicated to
highlighting Sikh achievements and promoting the basic Sikh principles
of public service. A group of local residents will be gathering on March
1, 2008 to cook food and deliver it to the city's homeless. This effort
is occurring without any financial donations or support from Government
or NGO agencies.
This campaign began in
Canada, where the Vancouver Sikhcessâ„¢ volunteers initially delivered
20,000 food packages to its local homeless. This "born and raised in
Vancouver "campaign has now stormed across North America and quickly
became a continent-wide phenomenon! The effort came to the United States
on November 2007 and nearly 50,000 food packages were delivered in one
night.
After successfully
distributing over 70,000 individual food packages across North America
last year, Sikhcessâ„¢ volunteers are now intensifying efforts to feed
the homeless and hungry globally, in: United States, Canada, Singapore,
Malaysia, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
