TOLL GATES

Toll-gates at newly opened Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway have outdone actual utility of expressway with massive traffic-jams at toll-gates consuming rather more time than that would have been saved by heavy cost spent on building expressway and flyovers. Man-hours lost and fuel burnt account to much more than toll-tax collected. System of toll-tax on expressways should be done away with by compensating it by a spurt on one-time road-tax charged from new registered vehicles. Rather this road-tax should have an annual review for meeting costs of new roads being developed.
