Bipasha Basu takes
responsibility for her actions
There were some who didn’t quite approve
the ‘erotic’ scenes in the film Jism but sexy Bipasha argues
that those were scenes that were narrative in their own way and
necessary to keep the story going. Knowing exactly well as to what
she was getting into, the Basu lass claims that she doesn’t regret
doing Jism one bit. "In fact, these are the kind of films we
need right now, something that’s different from the usual
run-of-the-mill storylines," is what she has to say. "I do not
regret Jism. In fact, I am happy that it happened to me."
Well, so much for sticking to what you choose to take up. Bravo! |

Straight From the Heart
Hrithik
Roshan has his hopes set high on 2003. Besides the SFX-riddled
Koi Mil Gaya, his home-production, there is Sooraj Barjatya
biggie Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon lined up for release and he
will also soon start shooting for Farhan Akhtar’s Kargil-drama,
Lakshaya.
Not many people know that beneath his rugged, macho exterior,
Hrithik is very much an instinctive person. Whenever he has to take
a career decision, he listens to his heart and his father, Rakesh
Roshan. And when it comes to the personal front he trusts his head
and his beloved. He considers Suzzanne his conscience and his
father, his guru. |

Abhishek-Karishma Break Off Engagement!
 The
Big B’s 60th birthday was a big
day for Abhishek and Karishma. While everyone has been waiting ever
since, with bated breath for the families to announce the D-day for
the wedding, we heard the shocking news from industry sources that
inexplicably, Abhishek and Karishma have called off their
engagement. It seems there were several reasons for this unexpected
break-up, but neither of the two were available for comment. Our
source revealed that it has been a mutually amicable split and that
the childhood-friends-turned-betrothed were still on talking terms.
Given their lineage and their polished backgrounds, could it be any
other way? We wish the couple a great future anyway with or without
the other. |

Rani Mukherjee ends the year with a bang!
While on Rani Mukherjee, her
credentials as a terrific performer seems to be on the rise every
passing day. Most of the focus for the year 2002 remained confined
to either Ajay Devgan or Vivek Oberoi. But with the kind of critical
and commercial success that Rani Mukherjee has got for Saathiya
makes her a likely candidate to join that list. Not only has she won
all round critical acclaim for Saathiya, Going by the
reviews, she is also said to be the best thing about Mujhse Dosti
Karoge. Next in line is said to be Aziz Mirza´s Chalte-Chalte
starring Shah Rukh Khan. Though Rani had a small role in Kabhi
Khushi Kabhi Gham, this will be the first time she will be
paired opposite Shahrukh after Kuch Kuch Hot Hai. |

Salman Khan gets ‘lucky’
It’s high time some luck went his way too,
watsay? Well, Salman Khan has recently been roped in as the lead in
bro Sohail’s next production venture titled Lucky. The film
will be shot in Russia. Very interestingly, Sohail has handed over
the directorial reins of this film to the duo comprising of Radhika
Rao and Vinay Sapru, while he takes care of only the production
aspects of the film. Well, this one sounds like a novel concept and
if talents are to be trusted, we’re pretty sure that the Khan will
come out with one helluva interesting film. No ‘poongi’ to this one.

Ash: Blow hot, blow ‘cold’!
With Aishwarya Rai being so perfect, one
wouldn’t think that the lowly bacteria or virus would have the nerve
to weaken the lady’s immunity. But sadly princesses get afflicted
too. It was a nasal sounding Ash who spoke to us last week. Reason?
A bad cold. And how come Ms Rai had got so stricken suddenly? A
terrible thing to happen just when her Dil Ka Rishta is set
to crash the marquee? Tsk tsk! We sympathised. Not that the lady was
in the mood for sympathy. "Try wearing a cotton sari, wetting your
hair and sitting by the Gang in Varanasi and then traveling to
Lucknow and Delhi in freezing temperatures; and then coming back to
the heat of Mumbai. You will get a bad cold too." She was referring
to her second shooting schedule of Rituparno Ghosh’s Choker Bali
where she had to shoot at a stretch in Varanasi. After which she
was busy promoting her home production Dil Ka Rishta. We
sympathise, Ash. And get well soon. As for the ‘cotton sari’ bit,
don’t be surprised if the world starts wearing it after the movie
releases. For isn’t it princesses who start trends? However ‘sick’
they may be. |
