Kaho Na Pyaar Hai enters Limca Book of Records

Hritik Roshan’s debut Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and his most successful film to date is making waves again. The film, which has “broken” many records, is now in the Limca Book of Records for the most number of awards won by a Bollywood film. At a staggering 102 awards, it will surely take a long time for any Bollywood film to come close to beating this record. Sure this brings a huge smile to Rakesh Roshan’s face.

Mandira's new innings

Mandira Bedi will be back soon in hubby Raj Kaushal’s film Shaadi Ke Laddoo. The star commentator at the World Cup, who received bouquets and brickbats for her dressing and performance, was last seen in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Her small screen debut began with Shanti, where she playes the reporter and now is being seen in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Back to Shaadi? The film has two male leads Sanjay Suri and Aashish Chowdhury and according to Mandira, Shaadi... is a totally fun film sans slapstick comedy. Though she is being offered many roles in television soaps as well as films, she wants to sit back and enjoy her stardom. "It’s important to realise your priorities: being a happy and good human being matters more. Stardom is temporary, after all," she says.

Item numbers in Sunny Deol movie ?

Two ‘item’ numbers and that too in a Sunny Deol movie is something which is difficult to believe, but if the director is also a choreographer it is not impossible.

Dance director Ahmed Khan, who has turned to direction with Lakeer, has two item numbers in the movie. A. R. Rahman who scores the music has already recorded the songs, one of which has been rendered by Daler Mehndi, and the other by the pop group Viva.

It will be interesting to see how Ahmed makes the heroes of his debut film dance because none of the four lead men are very fond of dancing. Lakeer stars Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, John Abraham and Sohail Khan.

Madhuri on comeback trail

If you had written off Madhuri Dixit after her marriage, its time you reconsidered your stand. After a hiatus of over a year, Madhuri is all set to make a comeback. If reports are to be believed, Madhuri will play the lead role in Zoya Akhtar’s film Nargis, that tells the story of a young man falling in love with an older woman played by Madhuri. This will be Zoya’s directorial debut. Daughter of the legendary writer Javed Akhtar and sister of Dil Chahta Hai maker Farhaan, Zoya had worked as assistant director on Dil Chahta Hai and is all set to carve an identity of her own. According to Madhuri’s secretary Rikku nothing has been confirmed yet but negotiations are in an advanced stage. Madhuri is also slated to play the lead in a film each by Yash Chopra and Rajkumar Santoshi.

Down-to-earth Kareena

Kareena has finally learnt the importance of modesty... though the babe has earned very good reviews for Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, she was modestly personified at the press conference of Sooraj Barjatya’s mega love drama. Kareena was as down-to-earth as perhaps any teenaged girl in the neighbourhood. Clad in a simple beige shalwar-kameez, with her silky tresses tied tight in a pony-tail, the girl had minimal make-up. Also, she was as nervous as a school girl on stage, as she walked up to take her chair. And when, the song Chali aayee chali aayee was being shown for the press, the girl was seen humming along the lines happily. Glued next to would-have-been jija, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena was all comfort with her first on-screen lover. Keeping a low-profile, as the director and the handsome heroes hogged the limelight, Kareena’s was a mellow presence

Rahul wooed finally!

Bollywood has finally beckoned Vinod Khanna’s elder son, Rahul Khanna. The suave actor has so far acted only in Deepa Mehta’s crossover films like 1947, Earth and Bollywood Hollywood. His debut in Bollywood is to be directed by Vikram Bhatt. The film will also star Arjun Rampal and John Abraham in parallel leads. Rahul Khanna had turned down many an offer in Hindi filmdom before finalising the one with Vikram Bhatt. It is learnt that Khanna also said no to Pooja Bhatt’s directorial debut, Paap. Khanna, who is a favourite with Deepa Mehta, also features in her newly announced project, which has Kareena Kapoor as the female lead.
