The Day After

Come summer and the country begins to reel under power shortages, power cuts and consequently under production in almost every field. However, the efforts of the Power Ministry during the recent past give hope that in the very near future things will change. Not only will power be available in fair abundance but it will also be of assured quality and affordable for the common man. We wish more power to the Power Minister so that he can hasten the process and mitigate the suffering of the common man, industry and the agriculture sector.

The preceding fortnight has also seen hectic political activity in Uttar Pradesh. The entry of Rahul Gandhi has raised the political stakes of Congress though not many believe that he is going to make a great impression during the current poll. But he has made it abundantly clear that he is here to stay and that however long and arduous the road might be in Uttar Pradesh, he is determined to travel it. The response that he has got must have warmed the hearts of the traditional and old Congressmen. They now know that there is hope yet and by the time the next election is around the corner the Congress would have been revived in the largest State of the country. Truly, Rahul Gandhi is battling for the next poll than the current one.

The DayAfter is as disappointed by the performance of Team India as the rest of the countrymen. We, however, realize that a number of factors have caused the downfall of the heroes and that it was neither because of lack of talent or effort. We believe that massive changes need to be made in the structure of the Indian cricket if we are to take the game out of the domain of entertainment and make it competitive at the highest level. The eternal optimists that we are, we look forward to a turn around very soon.
