We are surely passing
through turbulent times. The pain of the tragic blasts in
Srinagar and Mumbai had not full subsided when we have another
difficult condition. Mumbai and Surat are having been flooded
due to incessant rains, vast damages have been caused to
lives, livestock and crops. The Day After expresses it
sympathies for all those who have been affected by this
natural calamity.
The Day After has taken a few more steps forward. Its
popularity is increasing. I am happy to tell all our patrons
and honourable readers that a lot many writers from Delhi and
outside Delhi are approaching us with their articles,
requesting us to publish them. One of them is Dr. Lenka
Dufkova from the Czech Republic, who has contributed a piece
on Czech Republic. Dr. Dufkova, incidentally, happens to be an
acknowledged “Indologist” in her country. The Day After has
constituted a team to assess the new articles and provide us
with their opinion about the feasibility of printing the same.
The issue in hand has accommodated many articles written by
our guest writers. Several articles are in the pipeline at
various stages. The Day After has decided to acknowledge the
names of its guest writers on the Editorial page.
The present issue is dated 15 August, an auspicious day or the
country and each and every inhabitant of this great nation.
The country won its Independence on this day, marking the end
of two centuries of British rule, and the national flag was
hoisted on the Red Fort. India has since come a long way. The
Day After extends its congratulation to all the Indians on
this occasion. In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, The
Day After presents a cover story, highlighting what the India
has gained and lost in the post-Independent era.
In the previous issue I had requested our honourable readers
to send us their wise opinion about the magazine. I must thank
all our readers for responding to my request. We have indeed
got an overwhelming response and several valuable suggestions.
We are in the process of improvising on the lines suggested by
readers. I would end here with my renewed request for opinions
and suggestions.
