Amitabh Bachchan Returns To The Idiot Box!

After months of speculation, there’s good news for Amitabh’s fans. The Big B makes a great fit on the small screen and returns to the idiot box. But wait a minute, he’s not coming back with the intelligent new KBC, but it will be for an another show Star TV is in the process of finalising. According to industry rumours, Star is working in a hush- hush manner for a show which Amitabh will host. Star so far has refused to reveal the content of the show. And with it the rumours about reviving ‘KBC’ also comes to an end. Get ready to see Big B on the small screen again!

Ash’s new name...Eessh’!

IT’S a common phenomenon that the reel names of stars become larger than life, bigger than their real names…and some almost make their way into the legendary book of Indian cinema. Some classic examples are ‘Gabbar’, ‘Kalia’, and Ajit’s bimbettish 'Mona darlin’. Next, we have the gorgeous Aishwarya who’s been recently re-christened. When she stepped in to tinsel town, her long winding name was rather fancy and flowery for our aam janta, so everyone chose to lovingly call her ‘Ash’. Okay that’s a fair enough nickname. Now after ‘Devdas’ Ash has got herself another new name. You sure wouldn’t be able to guess this ingenious one. No! It’s not the obvious ‘Paro’. All her fans have been calling her, ‘Eessh’! Ash…oops…’Eessh’ was herself flabbergasted when she went to Pune for a promotional tour for ‘Devdas’ and found audiences referring to her as ‘Eessh’, instead of Ash. Wow! She sure has a mind-boggling effect on audiences. Eessh! Ash ne kya maar dala!

Preity Zinta & Kareina Kapoor  Kidnappers of a Pardesi’s Dil?

We’ve heard of overseas connections, and we are also aware of the popularity enjoyed by Hindi film stars not only in India but also in the lands beyond. However Preity Zinta and Kareina Kapoor reign the popularity charts chalked out by the Afghanis. And while Zinta’s ‘perky’ smile makes their heart skip a beat, Kareina’s Yaadein is something that also occupies their mind. With the ban of television (imposed by the Taliban) having been lifted, Afghan spirits are riding high, with the hope of seeing these two actresses perform their magic on screen yet again. Well, this one calls for a taali for sure. C’mon guys, it’s not a ‘taali-ban’ y’know!

Aamir Khan to judge Locarno fest

Aamir is also riding high and that too in the international scene. Sources close to him just inform us that AK has been invited as one of the judges at the prestigious Locarno Festival to be held in Switzerland. Coincidentally, Aamir’s ‘Lagaan’ was the winner of the viewer’s choice award at the same festival last year. Aamir is the third Indian actor after Shabana Azmi and Raj Kapoor to receive this rare honour of being a judge in one of Europe’s major film festival. One year after ‘Lagaan’ the Khan still reigns!

Production bug bites Hrithik

Well, if the grapevine is to be believed, that’s what the hunk is planning. After setting quite a few hearts on fire after his tour abroad, Hrithik plans to follow in the footsteps of actors like Aamir and Shah Rukh and produce films as well. With more and more actors producing their own films, we’re sure the regular band of producers must be feeling left out. Unless they draw up a new strategy quickly, they’re going to be in trouble! Incidentally, Hrithik’s in house production titled ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ is going strong too and should be released within the next year!
