in which an MP3 music player is woven into the fabric in
Singapore. The German manufacturer of the MP3 jacket was in
Singapore to promote the idea of wearable technology which is
not yet ready for mass production. |

ICD-S1
Japanese
electronics giant Sony employee Yumi Matsui displays the new
IC-memory recorder “ICD-S1”, which enables a user to record a
maximum of 47 hours, 26 minutes of sound data on the built-in
128 MB flash memory, at the company’s head office in Tokyo,
Sony will put it on the market with an estimated price of
32,000 yen (270 USD). |

mobile phone, which features a camera, personal organiser and
e-mail ability, at the CommunicAsia2002 exhibition, at Singapore
Expo Centre. The exhibition showcases the latest products in

Apple's 'floating'
screen
Apple
unveiled its new top-end iMac featuring a stunning 17-inch
widescreen LCD that floats in mid-air, allowing users to
effortlessly adjust its height or angle with just a touch. The
17-inch LCD flat screen iMac also features an 800 MHz PowerPC G4
processor, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics, a SuperDrive for playing
and burning CDs and DVDs, and a large 80GB hard drive that can
hold more than six hours of video, 15,000 songs and 73,000
digital photos. |

Wireless Internet
An
employee presents the “FreePad”, a newly designed wireless
internet access machine, in Munich. The “FreePad” works on the
DECT (direct electronic communication transfer) standard,
serving as internet access, telephone, e-mail server and fax
capability, up to 300 metres in the line of sight from the base
station. The extremely flat Linux-based web-terminal can be used
by touch screen. |

Robot Doll
Japan’s
leading robotics machinery manufacturer Kokoro’s Kayako Kido
speaks to a tuxiedo-clad humanoid robot named S DOLL that can
respond to its opponent speakers with gestures almost like a
normal conversation between two people, at its headquarters in
Tokyo.. The S DOLL was jointly developed with Japanese software
maker Consultant Association (CAI) that offered CAI’s most
sophisticated software technology in robotic intelligence to
enhance the robot’s ability to recognise fuzzy conversation done
by ordinary people. |
