Qualifications: There are various courses on animation and cartoons offered in colleges all over the country. Both diploma and degree courses are available across colleges in India, post graduate degrees in animation and cartoon are very rare. For acquiring a diploma in animation, one has to pass the 12th standard examination from any recognized board as a minimum qualification.
 

For the bachelor's degree program the same eligibility criterion is applicable, while for the PG program one must have a bachelor's degree.

Personal skills: An inborn talent, dedication, an eye to form, ability to utilize colors and creative ability to develop original ideas are important factors for making a name in animation field. An animator must be imaginative and should always be passionate about the career. An animator should have flair for sketching/drawing. As this job profile requires long hours of continuous work, a lot of dedication and commitment is necessary on the part of animator.
 

Scope in India: Animation in India has came a long way with Indian animations catering to the needs of several private and public sectors and indigenously produced animated films constituting the bulk. Various T.V programs, advertisements/commercials and computer games are demanding a huge quantity of manpower from the Indian market. Animation is also being used in titling films, creating special effects or in web entertainment programs. Thus the scope for students of animation is huge in the context of the emerging Indian market.

Technical Skill– With the increased use of computer generated imagery technology in the film industry in both live action films and animated movies, animation careers are becoming more technical. You'll need training in various software programs that are common in the industry. In some animation jobs you may also find math and physics helpful, as well as a general knowledge of various computer operating systems. If you want to be an animator, you will be working in an animation studio with other artists and designers.

As an animator gains expertise and experience, he/she can surely look forward to a salary anywhere between Rs. 25,000 to Rs.40, 000.
