VAT Collides
‘Rang De Basanti’
While
most of India has come to a standstill due to the 3-day VAT (Value
Added Tax) strike, it did not stop Amir from going about his work and
that too in the heart of India´s capital New Delhi (one of the worst
hit). Wearing light moss coloured t-shirt and light khaki trousers
Amir looked cool in Delhi heat and shot for a few important sequences
of his upcoming ‘Rang De Basanti’ at the historic India Gate last
Thursday, much to the excitement of the holiday crowd lolling in the
India Gate lawns nearby.
Naseer Shoots In Lahore For ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ ?
Veteran
Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah, paid a secret three day visit
to Lahore to shoot for a feature film, ‘Khuda Ke Liye’. According to
the ‘Daily Times’, Shah visited Lahore on March 11 and stayed in the

Preity Joins Salman And Akshay In Sajid’s Next
Preity
Zinta teams up with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in Sajid Nadiadwala’s
next to be directed by Shirish Kunder.
The
movie was supposed to have commenced in London from April and release
around Diwali this year but Salman had to allocate bulk dates to his
Hollywood venture ‘Marigold’ and so the project will be delayed.
Incidently, while Salman and Preity have acted together in many
successful projects together, this will only be the second time after
Tanuja Chandra’s ‘Sangharsh’, that Akshay and Preity will come
together.
‘Kisna’ In A New Avtar
Despite the
disastrous fate of ‘Kisna’, Subhash Ghai is now preparing its English
version for release abroad. The filmmaker is currently busy with the
editing,
dubbing and mixing of the International version which will be far
shorter than the Hindi one. With a running time of just 100 minutes,
the English film will have two songs - the title track and ‘Chilman’,
picturised on Sushmita Sen. So satisfied is Ghai with the edited and
abridged version that he actually professes that every filmmaker
should, as a learning exercise, re-edit his film soon after release,
for himself. "It’s an experience in itself," says the showman, adding,
"You often realise, how many unnecessary scenes you had retained in
the released version."

‘Tango Charlie’ Release Blues, ‘D’ on April 15
Rumors are
rife th at
‘Tango Charlie’ may have some new distributors or in extreme
case may even be postponed, as in some territories (specially
East Punjab and Delhi-U.P.), the distributors are keen on an April
release date because Indo-Pak cricket and board exams (in many states)
have resulted in pathetic openings/collections for many of the new
releases post ‘Bewafaa’. A representative of the Delhi-U.P.
distributor was in Bombay on March 11 to discuss the matters but a
final solution could not be arrived at. ‘Tango Charlie’ is scheduled
to release on March 25 and with the producer sticking to his guns,
there are bound to be some interesting developments. Meanwhile Ram
Gopal Verma’s ‘D’ (a prequel to ‘Campany’), has a tentative release
date of April 15 along with ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi’.
