Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee is to make a
statement in the Lok Sabha today on whether Indian Air Force
guidelines were violated by the Tehelka Inquiry Commission chairman
Justice SN Phukan and other members of the panel.
They are alleged to have used aircraft meant for VIP travel.
Justice Phukan, who gave a "clean chit" to the then defence minister
George Fernandes in the alleged Tehelka scam, has admitted he had
utilised the services of the Air Force while making a trip to
Maharashtra.
A news magazine has reported that six weeks before he submitted his
report on alleged corruption in defence deals, Justice Phukan made a
"week-long junket" courtesy the Defence Ministry.
