Abhishek Bachchan grows stubble!

The Jr Bachchan is spotted with stubble lately. Don’t get wrong ideas; he isn’t turning into a ‘Devdas’ because of his break up with Karisma. He is just growing one for his next film ‘Zameen’. While Papa dear Bachchan is planning to shave off his stubble for Khakee’, the ‘hair’ apparent Abhishek is growing one. Strange are the ways of the world!

Queen Bee Sridevi to rule the roost again?

She’s the Queen Bee and she’s back for her rightful title. Fans of Sridevi will be glad to learn that the actress, who had taken a much deserved sabbatical after marriage, is now all set to make a comeback of sorts. Besides making inroads into the television segment, the actress’ next film – ‘Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin’ — is all set to hit the silver screen. The film stars Akshay Kumar opposite Sri and has been in the making for some time. What’s more, we hear that hubby Boney is on the lookout for the right script for a bigger re-launch. Any ideas, folks?

Aamir: The price of exclusivity

Post divorce, Aamir Khan plans to begin shooting for Ketan Mehta’s 1857: The Rising based on the life of freedom fighter Mangal Pandey. Buzz has it that Khan turned down a film with ABCL and Ashutosh Gowariker to accommodate Mehta’s dream venture. The contract forbids Aamir to shoot for any other film. To see that the actor lives up to his commitment he has been assured a whopping Rs. 80 million, the highest sum ever paid to an actor. Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol can take a back seat for a change.

Ameesha Patel: Dancing trouble?

Choreographers are known for making actresses dance to their tunes. Literally. But choreographer Aslam Khan has got actress Ameesha Patel ‘hopping’ mad. Apparently, the actress, along with Urmila, had gone to Dubai for a show and Aslam Khan, she alleged, had made a big mess of the whole event. She claimed that the trip had been mismanaged and put the entire blame on the choreographer. We’re sure Ameesha is going to think twice next time before she takes up such shows!

Vivek Oberoi fights piracy

At a meeting held recently at JW Marriott Hotel (Mumbai), Vivek Oberoi was the only actor present among other authorities as a part of the launch of an anti-piracy drive launched by American producers. The meeting was attended by Smita Thackeray (President of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association) and various filmmakers. However, Vivek Oberoi, being the only actor there said he was present there because he strongly believed in the cause. He is heard to have said that pirates are making big moolah, and it would be better if the money went to the deserving filmmakers instead, especially in times when the industry isn’t exactly thriving too earnestly. Well, we do hope the masses help in the campaign as well, and discourage the illegal activity of piracy. Vivek does mention it as one of the reasons that films fail to make it at the BO though it ain’t the sole reason.

Rani: Rising sun

After her much acclaimed performance in Saathiya, Rani’s talent has been recognised. She has been going from one strength to another. She has finally bagged the kind of films she wants to do. Rani has a plum role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte which has been directed by Aziz Mirza. She has also been cast in Ketan Mehta’s 1857: The Uprising. The film has Aamir Khan as Mangal Pandey. Rani has also been zeroed in to play the lead opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades. Now she is one of the four hot actresses along with Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor.
