Following the series of below par performance by MS Dhoni in ongoing IPL 10, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has raised doubt over the current ability of Dhoni in the smallest format. Popularly known as ‘Dada’ of Indian cricket, Sourav said on April 12 on a private news channel that Dhoni is a great ODI player but doubted if India’s most successful cricket captain was that good in the T20 format. Ganguly said that in the last 10 years of T20 cricket, Dhoni has made just one half century which is not a good record for a player like Dhoni.
Dhoni has been relieved recently from the captainship of IPL Franchise Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and for the first time in IPL history, he is playing as a player. In the three IPL games RPS played so far, Dhoni has scored 12*, 5 and 11 which may force the IPL franchise to drop Dhoni in coming games if Dhoni fails to improve his performance.
Standing in sync with Ganguly, formerAustralian captain Michael Clark too raised doubts over Dhoni’s ability in the shorter version of cricket. He said that it was high time for Dhoni to explode a big innings in IPL because as a player he would be performing for himself too.
